Why can not Windows Movie Maker work for me?

All my friends use the same program and can make vids on YouTube or whatever, but when I try to put video clips that says "C: Documents and Settings User Desktop spongebob.wmv Failed to import the selected file is invalid or damaged.. "Does not work with any video file, including avi, wmv. All my friends can do, but I can not. Help!

WMM is notoriously bad for not working consistently. Try updating, and updating of all video codecs. Also make sure that another program or anything that is not using the file. You can also drag and drop clips to import. Try that.
