5 Steps to Creating a successful student

Creating a successful student is easier said than done. Many parents know the right things to do to create a good student, but few put into practice the advice and chose to take the path of least resistance. While the creation of a successful student is not easy, is well worth it in the end. The value of a good education, whatever the field, is truly invaluable.

If you are able to apply even some of the following five tips on a regular basis with your child, then you are on your way to creating a successful student.

Step 1 – Turn off the TV

In Children generally watch too much television. Both parents and educators tend to use TV as a babysitter when they are too tired or too overwhelmed to cope with their children. However, if you want to create a good student, then the TV must be off at least during the school week.

Many TV shows that are popular at present have little or no redeeming value or education, on the contrary, in many sitcoms considered "Family" rate, parents / father figures are often taunted and teased. In addition, some basic cable programs that claim to be oriented family often use mild profanity and adult situations for entertainment purposes. Even some of the cartoons that are marketed for children are just weird. Sponge Bob, anyone?

Step 2 – Unplug the video games

Have you seen the cost of popular video games? Many of these games cost $ 50 – $ 60 each. The console itself can run to $ 300.00. Also, what about the hours that children spend in front of the game, working your way from one level to another? It seems that these hours could be better spent studying, doing homework and reading for pleasure instead of learning to "kill" in 75 different ways. Too long address these video games only leads to bloodshot eyes, exercised over the thumbs and racing hearts of unused adrenaline.

Step 3 – Increase Family Time

Some parents seem to have gotten too busy for children in their care. These parents are busy doing their own "thing" while his children without adult supervision and care of adults. Although parents may try to occupy their children by buying game consoles, clothes, electronic music, nothing can replace the care and love of a parent or caregiver. These objects do nothing to enhance the ability of the child or that lend themselves to creating a family.

Sit with your child, talking about their day and showing a real interest in what they are and what they are doing, goes a long way toward creating a real family unit and support system for the child. The family meal is important because this is where children learn table manners, how to conduct the end of a conversation, and simply that someone in the family cares about what they are doing on the day to day. It's how you create a successful student.

Step 4 – Increase physical activity

Of course, not everyone has the time to transfer their children back and forth to sports practices and games. However, you can take the time to walk around the block or up and down the stairs inside your home. How about throwing the ball back and forth in the backyard, or the tossing a soft foam ball in the house? You can not get out? How about some jumps, squat or a pillow fight? Not only activity receives physical blood moving – a way to work some of that excess energy they have children – but also a good time to talk. Distraction the game helps children (and adults) to break the barriers.

Step 5 – Increase exposure to positive role models

Let's face it, sports stars and music and celebrities are prominent in the consciousness of our nation. Because they are almost forced down our throats through news reports, magazines and talk shows children begin to focus on them as role models and not the working people in their daily lives. The first model, of course should be the parents or guardians. Beyond that, there are teachers, coaches, police officers, firefighters and other "ordinary Joes and Janes" who are a positive influence in the community around. In addition, there are no figures for the current events that are just phenomenal, and Mae Jemison, Dr. Ben Carson, Condoleezza Rice, Ronald Reagan, Michael Phelps and others. Reading their stories can inspire a student.
