Why SpongeBob worse over the years?

Anyone who loves Sponge Bob knows that the episodes have been getting worse. The comedy has become far more children than before. Do you have to do with the replacement of the writers and Stephen Hillenburg? They just do not do events like April Fools' box more stupid. Can anyone help?

yes I know! sucks .. Hillenburg retired and then his top writer took charge of what they got a new writer and now its horrible
